"Lowertown Brewery: A Great Spot for Craft Beer Lovers" Lowertown Brewery offers a fantastic selection of in-house brewed beers. The beer flight is the perfect way to sample their diverse offerings. The service was excellent, and the addition of house-made chips provided the perfect accompaniment to the beers. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time. I recommend Lowertown Brewery to any craft beer enthusiast visiting Ottawa.

I ordered a beef brisket sandwich, and while the taste was good, it seemed slightly overcooked with a burnt, dry, well-done texture. The atmosphere was excellent, but the table was sticky. When I asked about it, I were told it was wet from cleaning, but the stickiness remained even after I left, so that didn't seem to be the real reason.

The beers are good, small selection but something for everyone. The food is hit or miss, the pulled pork sandwich and kettle chips were great but their brisket sandwich was very small and bland, also fatty so not great cuts of meat. The server never came to take our dirty dishes off the table. We requested a booth in the reservation notes and were not given oneOn a Monday night so not overly busy. Overall not the best experience.

  • Sapper's Stout

    Style: Stout - Irish Dry

    ABV: 5    IBU: 28

A smooth & creamy, nitrogen infused stout. Rich malty flavours backed up by a dry finish. If you’re looking for a complex yet well-balance stout, look no further. The Lowertown Sapper's Stout strays a bit away from the standard Irish Dry Stout and takes influence from Oatmeal Stouts, American Stouts, and other international stout styles. Robust notes of coffee, chocolate, and malt make this a stout fan’s dream. For those who have never tried a stout before, they may be pleasantly surprised with how smooth and creamy a beer can be. Don’t knock it ‘till you rock it! Pairs well with beef (steaks and briskets), lamb, burgers, Irish stew, roast potatoes, and chocolate-based desserts.

  • Lowertown Dubbel

    Style: Belgian Dubbel

Also known as the Winter Skate Ale. The perfect Winter companion. The Lowertown Dubbel is a formidable, strong, complex beer that is modeled after Western-European monastery beers known as “Dubbels”. A deep ruby red in colour with a creamy off-white head. Rich malty, dried fruit flavours and will finish with a smooth, warming texture. As mentioned in the serving notes, take your time drinking this as more of the rich, complex notes will become present as the beer warms. • Cherry Beer

    Style: Fruit Beer

    ABV: 4.5    IBU: 8

Also known as the Lowertown Kriek After a long Winter, it’s finally time to sit on a patio with something refreshing. The Lowertown Cherry Beer is modeled after the Belgian Kriek, a style of beer that uses fresh cherries aged directly with the base beer. Our interpretation is something that shows the sweet and tart character of cherries, but still light and refreshing. As the beer warms, the fruity aromas of cherries, raspberry, strawberry, and Riesling grapes show a bit more. Aroma: Fresh tart cherries, sweet dark cherries, Riesling, citrus zest, honey, fresh baked bread Taste: Similar to aroma. Sweet, tart, cherry, bread dough, mild raspberry & strawberry

  • Rye 'N' Shine

    Style: Rye Beer

    ABV: 4.9    IBU: 16

Using as much malted rye as our brewing system could handle, we made something truly unique for Lowertown. While German roggenbier’s (rye beer) are already a rare style to begin with, we decided to make our own rye beer that would be appropriate for the start of patio season. Rich notes of rye bread are noticeable right away with more body to the mouthfeel compared to your average blonde ale. Drink cold, serve fresh, and enjoy the sunshine. Goes well with the Lowertown Poutine, Kettle Chip Nachos, Smoked Meat Sandwich, Warm Garden Pasta, but also a generally good beer to have alongside food.
