The newest label in the Picaroons Historical Brown Ale series, THE CONNELL STAMP!!! The newly relabelled Brown Ale, previously branded as the 104th Regiment, will start hitting the shelves this week at Alcool NB Liquor locations throughout New Brunswick, with 25 cents from every bottle being donated to the Connell House - Home of the Carleton County Historical Society in Woodstock, New Brunswick. So what's the scoop with the "The Connell Stamp? In 1859, Postmaster General Charles Connell, a Carleton County Loyalist, ordered new postage for New Brunswick. An uproar ensued in 1860 when the 5 cent stamps appeared bearing Charles Connell's own face on them, soon resulting in his resignation. Most though not all specimens were destroyed and 115 years later, the extremely rare and valuable "Connell Stamp" is prized and sought by collectors around the world. Brilliant straw yellow in colour, with a short off white head. The beer is Crisp and refreshing with very low bitterness. On the nose you will smell aromas of Piney resin and citrus fruits, namely grapefruit, along with some fruity esters from our Ringwood yeast. The flavours are Citrus - Grapefruit, Lemon and some pine after taste. Very clean finish, medium-thin body.

This New Brunswick-Style Pale Ale is light and crisp, with citrus notes and a smooth, dry, slightly-floral finish and lasting hop flavour – a perfect thirst-quencher on a summer day. Made from half-and-half pale malt from Monquart Malthouse in Johnville, NB and Proud Maritime Malthouse in Petit Paquetville, NB. We’ve brought together these two agricultural producers from different parts of the province to produce a beer that will hopefully inspire you to #ExploreNB. Look for it in one of six different cans, each celebrating a specific part of our great province and a unique way to enjoy it.
