Food is great ! Good portions given the price tag. The brewery is a good hangout with good beer options. Its very cold, me and a couple of other tables had our jackets on and the service was a bit slow. Overall great spot, wish they took reservations.

OMG! This is what a brewpub is supposed to be like. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food to the beer even to the washrooms was great. Major setback was the 40 min wait to get a table, and this was on a Wednesday night !!! What's it going to be like on the weekend...of course you can make reservations! Our waitress was wonderful and we showed our appreciation. I don't know what it is they coat their deep fried pickles with but wow, those are the best ones I have had to date! I made mention of the washrooms because they were clean, well lit and smelled nice!

Management should be embarrassed at staff for less than par knowledge and service. We were driving from Sudbury and decided to stop in here. We had animals and wanted to order take out. We looked over the menu first, then I walked into the restaurant to order. The younger female hostess advised me to go down the hall to place our order, then take the receipt and come back to give to her to pick up the orfer. I asked before leaving if the wings are battered or naked. She was clueless and then proceeded to read the menu to me. I explained I already read it over and it doesn't advise if they're battered or naked. You would think at this point, your customer service skills would kick in and you'd ask a server or your boss. Instead, told me to plsvr my order down the hall and ask her. So I walked into the merchandise area, and asked to place a take-out order. Asking if the wings were battered or naked. Clueless she was-but she is not in the restaurant - and tells me I should ask the host. FML. So I walk back up to the restaurant, waiting for others to be seated... Then a waitress comes by to tell me it will be a moment, and I asked her. Confirming they are naked. I walked back to the merchandised area to place my order. 1 pizza, 1 Jimmy Dean burger (no onions) with a side house salad, and wings. She asked what side I want with my burger, again, House Salad. She tells me this is not an available option. She had a menu in front of her and I pointed out the exact words of it allowing a house salad. She continued to say its not avail... But a 'BrewCo' was. Asked what is on it, again, no idea and when referencing to her menu in front of her, there was no BrewCo salad. She assumed it might have changed names. She then put her elbows on the table as though defeated, when all I wanted was questions to be answered for my order. I said 'Ok, do it.' as this was getting further frustrating for everyone. I'm now ordered and 25min my food will be ready. All I need to do is take my receipt to the hostess for the order. While checking over the bill, she charged me for a burger with NO side, then changed for an additional salad? Therefore costing me more as she was not capable of entering an order properly as it should have been a burger with a side salad as the menu shows. (25 min pass). I walk in, go to the same hostess and give my receipt. She comes back to me and tells me they delivered my order to the merchandise area. WHY? she said she doesn't even know either when this is not the way they do it. Walk back to the merchandise dept, waiting in line with 4 other ppl buying items... Then I got my food. I stopped mid-way from leaving as I figured I'm sure the order won't be right. Open the bag, I see a salad, wings, burger and pizza. Yet no napkins, wet wipes or cutlery given. So AGAIN I walk myself back to the restaurant and patiently wait for anyone to give me cutlery. We drive down to the water to eat. Upon discovering that the burger had onions added to it (when it's not on the menu or my receipt) and I specifically asked for no onions on the salad as it allegedly contained them. Come on people, the copious amounts of unnecessary walking back and forth MANY times, un-knowledgeable staff, over-charging items, and just not professional.

Fantastic brewery. Staff is very friendly & polite, owners working the floor too. The atmosphere is great, despite the heat wave it wasn't too hot inside. Tried a tasting flight and fish tacos, that locally sourced walleye hit the spot after a long drive from Thunder Bay.

  • Lakeside Kolsch

    Style: Kölsch

    ABV: 5    IBU: 6

Lakeside Kolsch takes its name from one of Kenora’s first neighbourhoods on famous Lake of the Woods. Spattered with small beaches, boathouses & docks, Lakeside is typical of most marine hamlets built so many years ago. Kenora’s waterways have floated everything from raw lumber & birch canoes to wood launches, steamboats & outboard tillers. • Nautical Disaster

Style: IPA - Imperial / Double

    ABV: 7    IBU: 55

To survive the six month journey by sea from Britain to her colonies in India in the late 1700s, a beer was developed that was robust enough to endure the trip without spoiling. Loaded with bitter hops and higher in alcohol, both of which helped preserve the beer... India Pale Ale (IPA) was born. Legend has it that giant squids, monstrous whales, sea serpents and multi-arm beasts sent many of the ships filled with barrels of IPA to a watery grave. A true Nautical Disaster.

  • Big Timber IPA

    Style: IPA - American

    ABV: 6    IBU: 60

Dedicated to the larger than life men and women that helped forge the North American landscape. For all the lumberjacks, loggers, fellers and buckers... this beer’s for you. An unexpected bend to an American India Pale Ale, this non-traditional IPA has a depth of body and colour with an enormous floral/citrus hop aroma and a supporting malt profile. Keep on loggin’ on.

  • Firehouse

    Style: Brown Ale - English

    ABV: 4.8    IBU: 28

It would only make sense for us to dedicate the name of the beer to our brewery and tap room location, a 104-year old firehall in downtown Kenora. A small amount of chocolate malt provides the colour and aroma of this amber coloured ale while the aftertaste is of almond and the finish is dry. English hop varieties are used although the balance is towards the malt.

  • Dead Man's Switch

Style: IPA - New England / Hazy

    ABV: 6.8    IBU: 40

The Thistles 1907 Stanley Cup win and the 1973 Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce bank robbery. Two landmark (and completely unrelated) events that have put our little town of Kenora on the proverbial “map”. Commemorating the surreal and movie-esque Main Street bank robbery is Lake of the Woods Brewing Company’s small batch release of Dead Man’s Switch New England style IPA – a hazy hop bomb loaded with enough Citra and Amarillo hops to fill a large duffel bag. Unlike the robbery this NEIPA may not shut down the Trans-Canada Highway with its release, however it will leave you gobsmacked feeling like you just walked onto a movie set, and you and Dead Man’s Switch are the stars of the show. Small batch available at the brewery and select bars & restaurants. #makeitlaketime #hopbomb #NEIPA

  • Sneaky Peach

    Style: Pale Ale - Fruited

    ABV: 5.2    IBU: 50

Put there by a man in a factory downtown, Sneaky Peach Pale is a big nose smooth finishing Ale - deliciously delectable and deceivingly drinkable. Did you know? Peaches are symbols of immortality (don't mistake Sneaky for a Geldof, and definitely not ‘and Herb’); and super tasty in beer. Similar to the Mackinaw, Sneaky Peach is akin to ‘having a circus in your mouth’ and a little like being in a pie eating contest - to be experienced. Its peachy-keen!! (fruity/peachy/hoppy). Warning: Sneaky Peach may make you want to movin’ to the country…

In their honor, Papermaker is brewed with a rich, complex caramel maltiness combined with a pronounced yet well rounded bitterness. A classic spiciness is present, but does not linger.

Inspired by times spent perched at the beach pool bar under the hot sun with a bucket of cold ones, Lago is perfect for sharing with the senioritas and bro-chachos over a plate of tacos.
