The restaurant's design was excellent, providing a great atmosphere. However, the service was quite average, and the food menu lacked variety. We ordered a classic pizza and a burger, but both were burnt on the bottom. Additionally, we ordered a Blond beer, but the bill charged us for something else that was $1 more expensive. While we didn't raise a complaint, we were disappointed with the overall experience and won't be returning.

KNOWN FOR THEIR BRISKET!!! Amsterdam Barrel House is located in Leaside. It's part of a plaza with other well known eateries. It's a warm and inviting place to dine in. A different vibe than their other restaurant location at Harbourfront by Lake Ontario. The clientele is mostly consist of families. Couples who want a more dimmer setting should sit closer to the bar area. There's a stair leading to the second floor. I have never been upstairs so I can't comment on it. They have an outdoor dining area that was highly used during the pandemic. I have been here during lunch and dinner time including corporate events where the whole first floor is closed to the public. They can provide a long coat rack to hang one's jacket. They have a microphone to provide if needed. They allow musicians to perform during those catered events. When you dine here, you need to order their 12 hours Smoked Beef Brisket Dinner or Sandwich. The Brisket Dinner comes with fried potatoes, coleslaw and cheesy corn bread. I had their fish and chips (beer battered haddock) and their Stone Baked Pizzas before. They were quite good too, but the star is their Brisket. They accept cash, debit and credit card for payment. Washrooms are located on the main floor close to their kitchen.

Food was great. Loved the 3 beer fish and chips. Our server was not on top of her game. She did not inform us that the kitchen closes at 9:30 pm and then after we asked to get the bill so that we could leave they made an exception to feed us.

As a minority person, I didn't feel that minority people were welcome. As a loyal Canadian, I am very disappointed. I was offered the worst table until I asked for the table that was already set and available. The Shirley Temple was served to my wife without a garnish. I had to ask the server where the was garnish; the server said that they were out of stock of orange, she then offered a maraschino cherry; thereafter, the server returned with a complete garnish, with a half sliced orange and a maraschino cherry. The server took the meal order from the table that came after my table first. The shrimp was not completely cooked. I asked about the linguine, and she informed me that they are out of stock of the lobster and that they will substitute it with Jumbo shrimp. I agreed. I requested to get a marinara sauce; she had to pause for a minute and responded that she would have to inquire. I reiterated that I was allergic to cream sauce and that I had noticed that marinara sauce is on the menu.

Happened to be in the neighborhood running errands with my family and stopped by the Laird/Leaside location for lunch. I have to say the food was disappointing having been served soggy fish and chips. On top of that, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. Too bad because I have done memories of the Harbourfront location.
