Style: IPA - Rye
ABV: 8 IBU: 80
The time has come for us to bring this small batch fan favorite to a much wider audience! Commander Rye-ker Imperial Rye IPA showcases Amarillo hops exclusively, continuously and relentlessly added to a 75 minute boil and dry hopped in the fermenter. Despite the heavy hand on hops, and thanks to a massive mash, Rye-Ker’s bitterness balances with a solid malt backbone. As the name suggests, a touch of canadian rye malt rounds off the Amarillo fruitiness with a subtle spicy kick. Clean and crisp North American Ale yeast ensures incredible slammability without detracting from its colossal punch!

If you've ever been to Cumberland County then you've probably heard whispers of a Sasquatch like beast roaming the forests of Athol. We brewed this recipe up while hiking through the area as we came across grapefruit peels and coriander seeds in a clearing - surely that of the White Ogre's lunch! Enjoy with spicy tacos, hot sausages, or wandering explorers.

It’s no secret that Cumberland County has some of the world’s best maple syrup. We’ve tapped the trees in our own backyards to brew this deliciously sweet yet balanced maple beer. Partnering up with Hidden Mountain Maple Farms, we use maple sap instead of water throughout the entire brewing process. We then finish off the beer with gallons of the best locally produced maple syrup around. This process means we can only brew Maccan Maple in the Spring, so get it while it lasts!

For a nation no stranger to the cold, we know the importance of making the winter warmer. Full bodied and ringing in at a hearty 8.5%, Hibrrnation is an extra strong belly warmer perfect for sitting by the fire and kicking off a long winter’s nap. We loaded this deep chestnut brown ale with demerara sugar and unfiltered local honey for an extra sweet and rich warmth. The sweetness of this great big brew stays grounded by the earthy tones of Willamette hops. Hibrrnation disappears with the snow, so get it while it’s cold!

What is Honey Chaga Brown you ask? Well my friends, it is an earthy, crisp, refreshing Northern English Brown Ale. Steeped Chaga harvested by Shawee, a real life Lumberjack, gives this one it’s deep brown colour. We topped it off with copious amounts of Nappan Wildflower Honey, so you’ll also catch a light bodied honey tartness. The secret blend of hops were grown right here in Amherst by locally notorious home brewer Jeff Smith. We couldn’t possibly pack any more local flavours in to this beer. Perfect for the seasonal downs, this one is sure to pick you up when the weather gets rough, you can be happy if you’ve a mind to! Pairs well with roller skating in a buffalo herd and taking a shower in a parakeet cage. Chuga-lug!

Refreshing, elegant, and tasty! Traditional belgian witbier recipe (50/50 wheat and barley malt) with a hoppy twist. Dry hopped with the subtly citrus, spicy, and herbal Triskel hop from France! A cloudy light golden beer with thick fluffy head. Moderate to high carbonation, so pour with care. Generous amounts of sweet orange peel and cascade hops give a balanced but zesty citrus kick, blending perfectly with the light spicy undertone of coriander. Not too bitter, not too sweet. A supreme thirst quencher, it’s the perfect beer for hot summer days!

When we make a beer with another brewery, it’s kind of like musicians getting together for a jam session – each player contributes a bit of their own passion to create a one-of-a-kind experience. This collaborative brew between Salt Box Brewing, Trider’s Craft Beer, and Lunn’s Mill Beer Company, celebrates craft brewing expertise from three different counties in Nova Scotia. The result is “Tridal Bay” Belgian IPA. Considered a hybrid of styles, it is inspired by the dry, malty Belgian tripel and the American India Pale Ale (IPA). Brewed with the hoppy character of an IPA, but finished with a Belgian yeast strain this beer offers a unique balance of citrusy hops and complex fruit against the backdrop of smooth, dry malt and a slightly higher ABV (6.5%) Collaboration is more than just a beer, it’s a community. Think social. Drink local.

Lacto kettle sour featuring a healthy percentage of rice for lightness. Three separate additions of fresh local strawberries sourced from Nicnat Farms, located just down the road on the shore of the Northumberland Strait. The berries were fermented with the base beer, added for some warm aging, and again during cold conditioning. Rosy colour with a thick slightly pink head having a clear and distinct strawberry aroma on the nose. The lacto provides some definite tartness, but not so much that the strawberry flavour doesn't shine through. This beer is released in growlers and made available by the keg while quantities last. Easy drinking late summer crusher.

We arrived at this brewery during the week and were welcomed by a big smile, this brewery is a bit off the road but is definitely worth a visit. The barmen are really friendly and engage in conversation with you!! Apparently they have bands on the week ends. A must see if you are passing by!!

Great local beer. Making its was to Halifax now! The staff were very friendly when I visited and were generous with the samples to help me make up my mind on what beer to buy. Location was very well decorated and they have games to play when you are sipping your beer. Can by growlers in 1L and 2L bottles.
