“JAMES BLONDE 00709” ABV = 5% STYLE = Blonde Ale GOLD WINNER 2023 Canadian Brewing Awards The story of this beer.. We crafted this beer with you in mind. It’s a fun easy drinking craft beer for those interested in craft beer but are not sure where to start. Built with familiar noble hops and a grain bill we sourced abroad. We hope to illustrate to those curious about Craft Beer where beer is heading in Newfoundland. As the name implies, we tip our hat to our area code and to a soon to be famous agent James Blonde. Appearance and Taste… With an appearance and color we describe as antique gold, you soon taste the roundness and clean aftertaste but without that big beer tang. We carefully dialed the fermentation temps on this one, to bring you a fresh, and not much in the way of bitterness. Its attractive, bright and refreshing. Clean and balanced with a beautiful rocky head, the bitterness is quick, and vanishes with no aftertaste. Unlike your typical lager, this Ale opens up your interest in local craft beer. Hops here take a subtle showing, built on several noble hops with a tiny flare of a surprise aroma addition. We are showcasing the UK, Canadian and German malts. Pairs very well with Shed or Kitchen Parties!

The story of this beer... Like the people who cling to this great island, the Tuckamore tree is a symbol of enduring strength and resilience. It too embraces harsh coastal winds, is rooted to the land, and finds itself scattered along our beautiful rocky shores. Over time, the onslaught of the fierce Atlantic winds may shape the appearance of the Tuckamore, but it doesn’t change the firm grip it has on this island we love. Appearance and Taste… With a soft pillowy mouthfeel, a quick bitterness at the finish, we’ve rounded out and balanced tropical and evergreen with late whirlpool hop additions. Lets all sit back and enjoy the aroma of a bowl of oranges and taste of tropical punch, and say hello to our newest beer, Tuckamore IPA

“CHIN MUSIC” STYLE: AMERICAN PALE ALE ABV = 5.2% The story of this beer.. During earlier times in Newfoundland, not owning an instrument was no reason not to celebrate & rejoice. Story tellers would say, if a group of mummers did not have an instrument with them, the host for that night would sing “chin music” which is a mnemonic rhyme that mimics an accordion or fiddle tunes, so that during celebration we could dance. This beer is music to your chin. It is juicy, with huge tropical aromas, undeniable balance, yet smashingly slammable. If a blonde married an IPA, this is their brew child. Categorized as an American Pale Ale clocking in at 5.2% ABV, you soon realize that once you have a sip of Chin Music, you will want to lift your chin to ask for another. Appearance and Taste… With an appearance and color we describe as tangerine bright, this beer provides a modern flavor profile, our take on a hop forward Ale, where American Hops take center stage to this kitchen party. Pairs very well with anything related to summer!

If you grew up in Newfoundland, and had to leave this beautiful Island to build your future, there’s one thing for certain, you always feel a sense of connection to this Island we call home. If the West Coast is that place you call home, then you might find yourself in a Dream of The West. With that familiar taste, Cream Ales have a long history dating back to the early 1900s when Ale producers (craft brewers) needed to compete with the much larger lager macro breweries. If this sounds familiar, Craft Breweries today are showcasing the Adjuncts in this style (Corn, barley and/or oat) in this tasty, crushable treat. This beer is clean and smooth with its low fermentation temps, and our house yeast is pretty chill. Originally brewed in a basement in Halifax in 2013.

It takes a lot of preparation and planning to reach any SUMMIT, especially when its the highest mountain on the island portion of the Province. Atop of the neighboring Lewis Hills (near Secret Cove Brewing), you will find the highest mountain on the Island portion of the Province - The Cabox, (814meters above sea level) which boasts some of the best hiking, skiing and snowmobiling the island has to offer. We celebrate the highest point in Newfoundland with the release of our West Coast DOUBLE IPA titled: The Cabox ABV: 8.1%, (814 meters high). The Lewis Hills country is a wonderful destination and playground for experienced hikers and explorers. About 20 years ago it was designated as part of the International Appalachian Trail. If your hike originates in from the neighboring community of Point au Mal, be prepared to reach the summit of The Cabox after a 26 km journey through a world that can’t be described without seeing it for yourself. This West Coast IPA is all about the planning of the HOPS. We even mash hopped this beer, and like another famous explorer, Columbus hops would be kettle addition #1. After maxing out our whirlpool additions with Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus and pairing those HOPS on Day#1 of Dry Hop, we decided on the final day of dry hopping would be best suited with SUMMIT hops. To reach the SUMMIT takes a lot of planning.

MALT WATER JOYS ABV = 5% STYLE = Traditional Brown Ale The story of this beer.. We crafted this beer to describe where the heart is, here at home, in Newfoundland. Tip your glass to a beer we are proud to call “Malt Water Joys”. Appearance and Taste… With an appearance that jars memories of your grandmother making homemade pancake syrup on a wood burning stove. “WHEN IN STOUT” STYLE: FOREIGN IRISH STOUT ABV = 4% The story of this beer.. We crafted this beer for many reasons… the first being, we love Stouts! The first of several stouts to make an appearance, our “When in Stout” is a low ABV easy drinking Foreign Stout that brings a little bit of Ireland to our wonderful Island, Newfoundland. Whether its the creamy mouth-feel or the dark lure of the grains we believe this is a stout for the ages. Historians describe this beer as a “glass of the black stuff”, however we like to quote Mark Twain here, “when in doubt, tell the truth”. Truth said, you will love our “When in Stout” Appearance and Taste… With an appearance and color we describe as black gold, you soon taste the roundness and fresh aromas of roasted barley, flaked barley and pale chocolate. We carefully selected the finest UK and Canadian Malts which take front stage in this crisp, well balanced beer. Built with Canterbury hops from England which date back to 1838. Described as having an earthy, sweet silky and ever so mildly bitter flavor. Pairs very well with Music and Friends!

We teamed up with our friend Kevin Vincent from @newfoundsushiizakaya for a very creative and unique collaboration. After coming up with the concept, Kevin joined us for a fun day at the brewery. We began by 3-stage gelatinizing Newfound Sushi’s Japanese Rice under Kevin’s skillful eye. Our common goal was to craft a delicate IPA (think session) that would pair with the proteins of fresh sushi and specifically Newfoundland seafood. This collaboration was fun, technical and challenging. The result is a crisp smooth hybrid rice ale, which blurs several style guidelines, but sits at home in the Session IPA category. Rice is the star along with Sorachi Ace and Mosaic hops.

Blueberry Sour: Wild Newfoundland blueberries. When a name means everything. Early census records from the 1800's show that Port au Port East was formally called Berry Head. Low bush blueberries take the center stage in this smooth tart sour. Described as more tart than sour due to the abundance of blueberries, the berry nose along with the bright purple color from the pasteurized local wild blueberries suggest summer isn't over yet.

“BLUEBERRIES CRYING IN THE GRAIN” STYLE: WHEAT FRUIT BEER ABV = 5.1% The story of this beer… Before the town of “Port au Port”, we were known as “Berry Head”. Some still refer to the area as such and this was the inspiration behind a beer we’ve been making and enjoying with friends for several years. Growing up in Newfoundland, we have all had baked deserts, jams and jellies made from this delicious low growing berry right here on the West Coast. To us, this berry invokes memories of growing up spreading this delicious berry on everything from toast in the morning to adding it a closet batch of blueberry wine! Lets welcome our newest fruit series: “Blueberries Crying in the Grain” which clocks in with an ABV of 5.1%

It was a fun environment, and have a good swag selection. The beer selection of 12 was good, but could have more variety. They have a couple sours and the rest all tasted relatively the same, and no stouts. It was a bit pricey for 3 flights at 49.00(compared to where I'm from) but it was still worth a visit.

Someone dropped off ONE can of the 00709 James Blonde to me today, and I can honestly say it's one of the best I've ever had. As a 25 year veteran of the F&B business, I've had more than my share, and this really hits it. Can't wait to visit in person! Heard the food is great too! Also, tell Ryan TOO SOON!!!
