Very busy place at certain times! Lucky to get in early on a Saturday lunch. Filled up really quickly, lineups even in January! Large outdoor patio with vinyl curtain windows but ?cold. Nice decor, varied seating, good wall beer and wine menu. Great food, even our neighbouring table's food looked great. My seafood chowder was fabulous, small bowl plenty with 'bannock', fried piece of bread. Would definitely come here repeatedly! Moderate to high prices, worthwhile.

If I could give more stars for service I would. The last few times we have been the service has been above and beyond. Fern is Cedar is serious about their amazing food and incredible staff. I first tasted the brussel sprouts when I went with a group of girlfriends and after that it was so we. They are out of this world incredible. I love that they their fish and chips are gluten free. I am serious and it's so nice to not have to worry. My son is also a big fan of the fish and chips. They off great kids options and good sized portions. My kids try the Philips soda every time and are still not a big fan but they love the Kombucha options. The tofu is my husband's favorite and so full of flavor and crispy for being coated in a yummy sauce. Fern and Cedar also offers beef that my husband enjoys. A rotating list of great options.

I will preface by saying I rarely leave a negative review, in fact I'm more inclined to leave a positive review. I will also say that the beer is exceptional. Unfortunately, the service (hour long wait, no checking in), communication, and portion sizes was disappointing. I ordered the duck ragu gnocchi and the portion was apparently appetizer sized although this was not communicated on the menu or by the staff. While it tasted fine, I bet there was maybe $5 worth of ground duck although I might be generous because I couldn't taste duck at all. I'd return for a beer, but I'll hesitate to return for a sit-down meal.

We absolutely adore our adventures to Qualicum to experience the charm of Fern and Cedar! This spot boasts an impressive selection of craft beers, delightful ciders, and innovative cocktails, all perfectly complemented by their wonderful food. And don't miss the awesome photography hanging in the hallway by the washroomsit adds a fantastic touch to the atmosphere! Be sure to check out their merchandise, too; it's a great way to take a piece of the experience home with you. Every visit is a culinary journey filled with great flavors and memorable moments!

The best short rib we've ever had! Excellent chef! Amazing shrimp dumplings & squid for appetizers. All great flavours and so well rounded. The atmosphere was so well done, the hanging plants help with sound absorption and add such a calming vibe. Perfect dim lighting, warm and cozy. All around great! Harry the front of house manager was so friendly and authentic.
