Style: Kölsch
ABV: 4.8 IBU: 18
Cutwater Kolsch is a German inspired lagered ale. Warm fermented then cold conditioned like a lager this crisp blonde ale starts with light malt profile and a hint of noble bitterness while still keeping the spotlight on the distinctive yeast from Cologne. Smooth, balanced, and highly quaffable.

Brewed concurrently at the Garrison and Shipwright breweries for the Bluenose 100th anniversayr celebration; this beer highlights the hard work, determination and tradition that embodied both the building of the Bluenose in 1921 and continues today in craft brewing. The idea came from discussions between Adam Bower, owner of Shipwright Brewing, The Grand Banker and Brigantine Inn, and Brian Titus, President of Garrison Brewing. “We were aware of the important milestone but wouldn’t consider doing anything without a strong Lunenburg partner” said Titus. “Then Adam called, and the pieces quickly fell into place.” The next step was to craft a special beer, and Brewmasters Daniel Girard (Garrison) and Kellye Robertson (Shipwright) quickly developed the recipe for a German Helles-style lager. “We wanted a bold, traditional lager with a crisp but light bitterness from German Hallertau hops” said Kellye. “Daniel and I have worked together many times so I knew the results would be smooth, refreshing and perfect for celebrating the undefeated champion, dubbed the Queen of the North Atlantic”.

A blend of six malts, this medium-bodied milk stout showcases flavours of cacao, coffee, vanilla and a touch of nuttiness. Smooth with some mid palette sweetness from the addition of lactose, it still finishes slightly dry accompanied by a hint of acidity.

This was a previous brew of owner Adam Bower’s that was scaled up and tweaked by brewmaster Kellye Robertson which they brewed together. Intense tropical aromatics of pineapple, citrus, & coconut from the addition of raw coconut and fresh pineapple that follow through on the palette. An upfront hop bitterness is persistent throughout and complimented by the juicy tropical fruit and silky finish from the addition of lactose, with a lengthy coconut undertone. We may be just getting into winter, but this beer will bring you back to warmer days, and have you feeling “due south”!

Style: Altbier - Traditional
ABV: 5.6 IBU: 24
Fischerdorf is German for fishing village, and being in Lunenburg and brewing this German style, "Fischerdorf Alt" it is! Historically brewed in the Westphalia region, our Fischerdorf Alt pays homage to the classic Altbier style. Top fermented then matured at cool temperatures just like our Kolsch, this style is dark amber in colour with a delicate malt forward presence. Subtlety hopped with Perle throughout brings a hint of bitterness, giving the Alt balance and a crisp finish.

Our second sour of the season is a lovely balance between juicy acidity and tropical aromatics. A combination of pale ale, wheat and honey malt then dry hopped with equal amounts of Bru-1 and Citra. Aromas of grapefruit and lychee lead to pleasantly tart flavours of peach, citrus and pineapple. One sip and you may find yourself on the south shore with a Crowler koozie in-hand, headed for the surf side!

This hop forward beer is crisp, clean, and crushable. A cold IPA is fermented colder than typical ale temperatures, with a lager yeast strain - in this case, our Kolsch yeast was a perfect fit. Using Pilsner malt, a healthy dose of flaked rice, and heavily hopped with Citra and Huell Melon, Sub Zero really showcases the hops. With an aroma of oranges on the nose, and a pleasant stone fruit and citrus palate, this crisp dry beer provides an almost tart drinking experience.

An English style porter with notes of cocoa and coffee on the nose that follow through on the palette. A very smooth lighter mouth feel up front that leads to a slight bitterness from the coffee beans, with long finish of coffee and dark chocolate notes! This Coffee Porter was made with Maris Otter, Brown Malt and Chocolate Malts with Perle hops, and an addition of our own Grand Banker Dark Roast Coffee Beans made a few blocks away at Laughing Whale Coffee Roasters. The coffee bean blend uses a medium roast Mexican beans, and dark roast beans that consist of Mexican, Sumatra, Ethiopia, and Nicaragua origins.

Flavours of soft stone fruit and tangerine, followed by some assertive pithy bitterness. Fermented with our house Kolsch yeast for a refreshingly dry finish.

After one year of operation we decided to max out our little mash tun and bring something big. Rum Row is our Imperial Stout aged on Terra Beata Cranberries and oak cubes soaked in Ironworks Distillery Bluenose Rum. Intense notes of dark cocoa, roasted malts and red berry on the nose which translates to the palette. Complex malt profile, medium bodied from an addition of oats and a refreshing amount of acidity from the sour cranberries that compliment a long dark rum & oak finish.

Head for the hills pale ale is our west coast inspired pale ale. Pils, biscuit and spelt make up for a complex pale malt profile. Generous late addition doses of Sabro and Simcoe bring aromatics of ripe peach, grapefruit zest and pine. These flavours follow through with upfront Stone fruit sweetness, pithy mid-palette bitterness and dry finish. We launched this beer at the Ski Cape Smokey Beer Festival, and litterally kegged it off, and headed straight for the hills!

The weather is hot, the beer is cold, peak season is upon us, and the keg room is running low ?. Sending out an SOS! This cross-continental style is a blend of Belgian strong ale, and west coast IPA. The malt base consists of pale ale, Vienna, and light Munich, with a healthy dose of Citra and Topaz. Intense aromatics of orange & grapefruit that follow through on the palette which lead to clean bitterness that finishes with sweet Belgian yeast esters. Enjoy sparingly?! Cheers!

Style: California Common
ABV: 5.5 IBU: 30
Cross Island Common is our modern take on the California Common style. Munich, Vienna, English Cara and flaked Barley make up the malt bill. Perle hops added to the kettle and dry hopped with Eureka. Herbaceous hop forward aromatics with a candied orange undertone that lead to a palette of red berry fruits and toffee with a bitter yet clean and crisp malty finish. Cross Island divides the approach to Lunenburg Bay into two channels. Known for it’s iconic lighthouse, its fog horn is fondly remembered as a common sound by locals from Blue Rocks to Lunenburg.

We stopped here for lunch hoping that we would get some really good seafood. Unfortunately the only seafood on the menu was fish and chips, HOWEVER, we ordered a pizza instead and what a tasteful experience that was. Great pizza, great beer, brilliant and friendly service with a fantastic view over the harbour to top it all. Very clean restaurant and also a great selection of beer (obviously) and other drinks.

Great place. Views are amazing and both the food and service are excellent. The menu offers a bunch of options for everybody and there's no lack of beer selection (amongst other options too). Will become a great hangout once we move there

This restaurant is a gem! Some of the best pizza I've ever eatenfresh and hot! Everyone in the group loved their meals. The service was excellent! If you don't want seafood, this is a great option. It is on the second floor and has great views of the bay. You'll need to access it from the street not facing the water. You can even charge your phones on their wireless chargers at the bar!!

I recently ordered pizza and chowder from this restaurant, and I was extremely disappointed. The pizza was fine, but the chowder was a disaster. It was bitter and didn't taste fresh at all. To make matters worse, it made me vomit shortly after eating. Considering the high prices, I expected much better quality. I won't be ordering from here again.

My wife and I I enjoyed the Shipwright brewery beers. As for the Margarita Pizza Detroit style, was just fine. Personally, my tastebuds would enjoyed more basil. There was something off in the stuffed crust!
