Style: Pale Ale - American
ABV: 4.5 IBU: 0
We call YellowBelly Pale Ale our session beer. Full-bodied malt base counter balanced by a significant bitterness provided by the hops. Medium length finish, with hints of grapefruit, pineapple, caramel and honey.

Style: Red Ale - Irish
ABV: 5.5 IBU: 0
Our most complex beer, with its big and malty flavour it has a very long finish. Lightly carbonated and heavy in body. The roast barley contributes complex flavours like burnt toast, strawberry jam, coffee, chocolate, and leather.

Style: Stout - Irish Dry
ABV: 4.7 IBU: 0
This traditional Irish Stout is very dark, heavy and complex with an extremely long finish. In addition to the high rate of hopping in the kettle there is also bitterness from the roast barley. It has a dense, creamy head and is full of complex, burnt, “roasty” flavours. Notes of burnt toast, licorice and chocolate, but also cedar, berry, pear, walnut and citrus.

Style: Wheat Beer - American Pale Wheat
ABV: 5 IBU: 0
This is our lightest beer. The significant portion of wheat lends a green apple / sour plum to the middle of the palate. Highly carbonated, light and refreshing, short finish, leaves you wanting more.

A collaboration between Yellowbelly Brewery, St. John's and Top Shed Brewery in Australia. A balanced quarter. Malt, corn and wheat. Hops are Pacific Gem and Mosaic. Slight dry hop to make it interesting. 22 IBU, OG 1048.

It is off-dry, 3% sweetness (from added cider, not added sugar) and fermented with a Champagne yeast. At 5.5% alcohol, tart, apple-y and sweet, it's perfect on a pint of ice. Yellowbelly's first gluten free product.

This cider is less sweet than our previous one and slightly more alcoholic at 6.5% ABV. Most importantly it is 10% fresh pressed juice (by volume) of cranberries from the west coast of Newfoundland. It is tart, fruity, vibrant and very off dry with a little bitter twist on the finish from the cranberry. Bright with a lovely pink hue...Festive-like.

ABV: 4 IBU: 20
4% ABV. Low 20's in bitternesss. Pepperiness from the rye, lactic bite from the sourdough, figs and raisins as backnotes and Willamette in quantity as a dry hop. Complex but, oh so balanced. Bread and beer have been intimately connected since antiquity. This beer is an embrace of exactly that with an acknowledgement of our obligation to do better and waste less. Made with a lot of day old bread from our local bakery, The Rocket, and a heart of gold. Mild brown ale. Well suited to accompany bread and cheese.

This year's special brew is a pale ale named in celebration of Padraig, the patron saint of Ireland. Hopped entirely Cascade including two separate dry hops.

In June 2015, YellowBelly's Black Gold became available on tap and in bottles for a limited time. It's a black ale, coming in at about 40 IBU and 4.5% ABV. It is exclusively hopped with Brewer's Gold (base, late, warm dry hop and cold dry hop). Very balanced and just a smack of chocolate and another smack of something we can only describe as "puffed wheat." The astringency you might expect from darkly roasted cereals is absent, as the roast material used was Midnight Wheat at about 8% of the grist. Head presentation, from the hops and the Midnight Wheat, is exceptional.

An East Coast Cream Ale. We’ve put a wee twist on a classic style. Dry hopped with Mosaic. It is redolent with hop aroma but not very bitter at all. It is a light bodied quaffer designed to be moreish.

Style: Brown Ale - American
ABV: 6.2 IBU: 40
An American Brown in style. Perhaps a little heavy at 6.2% ABV for the style and also over the top fruity but I've never been one to be confined to style guidelines. About 40 IBU's against a significant malt backbone. 6.2% alcohol, Canadian Pale, English Maris Otter, Canadian Munich, Scottish Carastan and Scottish Black Malt make up the grist. Hopped with Nugget and Galena, it is also dry hopped twice, first with Chinook and Ahtanum, second with Topaz.... it is a lovely thing. Balanced and drinkable. Chocolate, caramel, roast and nutty notes. Spicy, herbal, resinous, piney and tropical fruit from the dry hopping cycles.

ABV: 6 IBU: 60
New IPA seasonal introduced in August 2015. It disappeared fast but due to clamouring by an affectionate public, we're bringing it back! About 60 IBUs and about 6% ABV, it is a bitter fruity hop bomb. Liam brewed it using American ale yeast vs. our regular British house strain. It is dry and bitter with serious overtones of lychee and grapefruit. Made exclusively with hops from the southern hemisphere (pacific gem from New Zealand and mosaic from Australia).

Landsmen is the word for fishers that practice their trade from the shore vs large offshore boats. Our tribute to swilers, really. Maris Otter, Dark Crystal and Brewer's Gold hops. The singular use of this hop at all stages including two separate dry hop applications allows its earthy, spicy, berry fruit character to shine. A brewer's beer. 5.3

My friends and I just happened to walk by and check this place out as it was close to our hotels and we love a local brewery. Being from out of town, the waitress (Cassandra) was super friendly and answered all our questions regarding the food. When we did not feel like having just beer, the staff went above and beyond to make us warm drinks that were delicious and pretty (our experiences at other bars were not as positive for this). The muscles were fresh, and huge - could have been a meal on their own. The fish and chips were different from what we'd had at other bars (it was Panko crusted and not heavily battered) and delicious. My friends found the burger and the salad to be fantastic as well. And for all that we got, the price felt super reasonable. Would highly recommend to visit this great local gem!

Awesome place for a meal. Recommend the cream ale beer, CaesarPizza and fish and chips with gravy and dressing. The server was great, friendly and provided some great selections from the menu. If you are in St. John's make sure you stop here!

Yellow Belly is such a cool pub! The beer that they brew is very tasty as well! They have done a wonderful job preserving the old brick, stone and wood that the old building was constructed with. We went for lunch. We ordered the mussels and chowder to share. The mussels were a very generous portion in a flavour packed broth. The chowder was also covered in mussels! Most of all the vibe of the place is amazing. The owner, or manager let me go up and explore all 5 levels of this historic building. The second floor has the kitchen and a wood fired pizza oven. Floor 3 is for events such as weddings. If you're in St. John's, its a great "Irish Pub"!

I had the salt and vinegar fish and chips wow, sooooo good. The fries are a perfect consistency taste and saltiness. Super happy and sated with this meal. The beer is great too. The best part is the service, so friendly and fast. Amazing, thank you for a great first experience in St. John's!

Really nice place, well decorated. Small dining area downstairs, for a more spacious sitting area you have to go up a flight of steps. The food was excellent, the mussels and salt and vinegar fish and chips were a highlight. The poutine was made with the gravy from the braised short rib, delicious. The pretzel was nice and soft but not a shareable size. The brownie was nothing to write home about.
