The service is good, the atmosphere as well just consider this is a big place and they might take some time to take or bring your order. They gave great cocktails and beers, they food is just okay... Honestly I wouldn't recommend their burgers, we ordered two different and they tasted the same. I wouldn't say this is my first option when I'm going out, specially because is not cheap but it is a decent brewery.

I ordered the Brewhouse Burger with fries which was very filling. The Burger was ok, not great and quite expensive. The Burger bun was quite burnt so for a lot of the Burger all I could taste was the burnt bun, until about the last quarter of the Burger where I could actually taste the flavours in the Burger. The fries were very salty and also very oily, to the point where you got to the bottom of the fries tin, there was a puddle of oil leftover in the tin.

I was first introduced to pubs in the UK. Vancouver pubs are quite different - a large number of them are unimaginative, typically dark inside with black walls, black cheap furniture, blaring music, TV screens, the opposite of enjoyable. As usual, I was crawling on Google Maps looking for places near Jonathan Rogers Park that offer vegan food. I didn't expect to find vegan dishes in a pub, but because they have lots of outdoor tables, I checked out their menu just in case. The words 're-imagined' on their website caught my attention - they actually offer a number of plant-based menu items! Their Vegan Bahn-Bao is quite amazing. Now that Mila Chinatown replaced their tofu bao with deep fried crispy bean-curd, Steamworks may be the only place in town we can get a less garlicky tofu bao. I like the miso marinated mushrooms, but they were a bit tough to chew -perhaps they are uncooked... The watermelon radish is a nice touch, and the bao stuffing looks beautiful. I also ordered The Pleasant Salad, but because the dressing contains regular egg mayo, I ate the salad without dressing. My partner ordered Jaeger Schnitzel, another item we didn't expect in a pub. The sptzle was not as chewy as I would make them, and they looked a little too processed (not passionate enough). The purple cabbage was very good. Their house made apple cider was very refreshing. On our second visit, we both ordered the Bahn-Bao, and shared the Vegan Goddess Bowl. I guess a bowl is nothing like a salad, it has rice instead of leaves. Although the maple soy tofu was good, the turmeric cauliflower was dried out and not enjoyable. Inside the taproom, the walls are not black, and the seating was quite attractive. But because the music is pub volumn (loud!), we wouldn't have been able to stand it inside if outside seating was not available.

Thank you for being dog friendly! Our pup was spoiled with yams, and was so content laying in the sun beside us. Service was awesome, and a great selection of beer and food.

  • Empress IPA

Style: IPA - Imperial / Double

    ABV: 8.8    IBU: 100

During the heyday of the British Empire, India Pale Ale was born as a strong pale ale brewed especially to endure the rigors of the long journey to the colonies. In order to guard against spoilage, I.P.A. was brewed with a high alcohol content and with liberal amounts of hops, which act as a natural preservative. This ale's golden amber colour only hints at its full-bodied flavour. Its sumptuous maltiness is tempered by a goodly amount of bitterness and a mouth-filling hop flavour. In order to finish our I.P.A. with a truly fresh hop bouquet, we dry hop this ale in the serving tank with both East Kent Goldings and Mount Hood hops.

  • White Stout

Style: Stout - White / Golden

    ABV: 5.1    IBU: 33

Steamworks White Stout takes the rich typical stout flavours and body imparted from oats and barley, but without the dark coloured, roasted malts traditionally used in a stout. Instead, these roasted notes come from first aging the beer with whole espresso beans from East Vancouver’s Pallet Coffee, and then with whole cacao beans from East Van Roasters. The result is a deliciously unexpected brew that pours light gold with a thick white head.
