Style: Pale Ale - American

Pesky Pig Pale Ale is named after Francis the Pig who stole the hearts of carnivores and vegetarians alike in the summer of 1990. This 220 pound porker evaded his fate by jumping a wall, navigating the slaughterhouse and escaping into Red Deer's parkland. Our Pesky Pig Pale Ale is meant to really let the hops sing. The malt presence is quiet but supportive of the rambunctious hop flavours of grapefruit, papaya, and other tropical fruits. The usual hop bitterness has been reigned in while the flavours and aroma have been allowed to run amok, making for a delicious, intense, yet ultimately quaffable beer.

Open Road is for those looking for something a little darker and malt forward. Pumpernickel bread and raisins dominate the palate but finishes with chocolate, while the hops lend just a hint of citrus and pine to balance out the sweetness of this easy drinking dark beer.

Style: IPA - New England / Hazy

ABV: 6.5    IBU: 40

Mostly clear, though it may have a slight haze, with a fine white head. This golden hued beer greets the nose with a mix of tropical fruit and herbacious hop notes that include candied lemons, juicy fruit gum and a hint of wintergreen. The first sip reveals that it is hop forward with a fairly soft mouthfeel and a bitterness that only really asserts itself in the finish. Tropical fruits again dominate the flavour with a some orange citrus, piney and resinous hop character towards the end.

The nose starts with a hint of that authentic lager bite and a light touch of lemon over a straw and bread biscuit malt base. The first sip is well carbonated and crisply refreshing. Style: Sour - Fruited

It pours a yellow-straw colour with a fine white head. The nose is greeted by a big burst of pineapple and a little malt sweetness. The flavour is fresh pineapple layered over a gentle tartness that is softened by the lactose. The hops are more noticeable after the first couple of sips but lend subtle tropical fruit flavour that supports the pineapple and give it a little more depth while also balancing the fruit sweetness with a very slight bitterness. This beer is super refreshing and won't last long as the days get longer and warmer.

The aroma is floral and fruity with cranberry cocktail sweetness. The colour is a pale yellow green which matches the flavours of green tea and cranberries in first sip. The floral and herbal tea notes combine with a slight sweetness to balance the dryness of the cranberries so you are left with an ultimately drinkable beverage that is just as fitting for a patio in the sun as it is for being curled up under a blanket watching the leave turn.

Lucky Stetson is intensely dark with ruby highlights. The dark ivory heads is fine but persistant and leaves lacing down the sides of the glass. Roast malt aromas come right up to the forefront with notes of coffee dried fruit, oat cakes and dark chocolate. The flavour is right there too with plenty of dark chocolate, and coffee rounded out by bready and roasty flavours that give way to subtle toasted coconut (especially in the aftertaste) and a slight dark malt tartness. It hits all the toasted and roasty stout flavours but is still light in the body and easy to drink. The carbonation gives a little boost to the bitterness so it never gets cloying or heavy. The gold coloured beer is bright and clear with a fine, white rocky head that subsides to leave a bit of lacing on the glass. The aroma is dominated by the delicate fruit flavours with the strawberry and watermelon almost taking turns in the spotlight. The flavour is subtle, refreshing and evocative of summer with sliced watermelon complimented by the sweet berry notes of the strawberries. The malt pokes it's head up mid-palate but mostly stays out of the way and the hops provide just enough bitterness to give balance and help quench your thirst. Style: Sour - Berliner Weisse

The beer is clear and straw yellow with a head of foam that clears away cleanly. The aromas of bread, apple cider and an earthly, leathery funk let you know this was brewed and aged in a wooden foeder with the traditional yeasts and bacteria. The beer itself is dry but gains some body through the abundant carbonation. The flavours are mild and subtle and allow for the enjoyment of the interplay between the bright acidity and the slight, earthy Brettanomyces funk. The beer is refreshing and easy on its own but would pair brilliantly with a flavoured syrup.

We put our award winning Open Road American Brown Ale into the freshly empited barrels of our award winning GrainHenge: Meeting Creek Whisky - the whisky that was inspired by this very beer. After 12 months, the flavours had married, mellowed and matured into this beautiful dark sipper of a beer. Ruby highlights and aged ivory foam add to the visual appeal. The aroma is full of vanilla, chocolate and coffee with some dried fruits. The first sip is warm and full bodied but not hot despite the high alcohol strength. Dark chocolate and coffee are smoothed out with sweet notes of vanilla and coconut while dark fruits linger in the background. A little bit of rye-bread malt character emerges as it sits on the palate. Perfect for sharing but you sure don't have to.
