A top tier option in Calgary if you are looking for a place to grab a drink and some good eats. The taproom itself is very inviting and conceptualized very well. The beer is well crafted with high quality ingredients and it comes through with every sip. They have a nice variety, so there will be something for anyone and everyone. I was blown away by the pizza...it easily made my list of some of the best Calgary has to offer. The crust is something special. Tailgunner is a place I will gladly recommend to anyone and one that I will return to many more times.

Great ambience with dim light mood and sophisticated aesthetic. Their beers are great for good session with friends, especially their Dame Dorothy pale ale and Welcome Lager. It's also a big bonus that they also have ACME Pizza in house so you can get quality thin pizzas with your brews. Their patio is big enough to accommodate more groups. Street Parking can be tricky, especially in rush hour so plan ahead.

We had high hopes for tailgunner since it was incredibly close to us. However, 8/10 times the service has been incredibly slow or the servers just simply don't care to ask. More than once, it has taken at least 30 minutes to get our drinks ordered. Knowing that sometimes things just get busy or it may be off days for servers (totally understandable), we've given it multiple tries the last year, but results have been consistently the same. Despite us liking the food and drinks, we now choose not to go due to this.

I've really enjoyed Acme Pizza many times, both at its old location at Two Houses, and now at Tailgunner. We recently went on a Saturday night, not a particularly busy night, and the pizza was disappointingly poor. I think the recipe was changed, the toppings were very sparse, and mostly crust, and there were no oil or chilli condiments. The beer was good although badly poured with a huge head (I'm English, so this matters), so my complaints are mainly about the pizza. This place used to be our go - to for a night out, but not any more.

Very clean and beautiful atmosphere! We thoroughly enjoyed the variety and taste of their beers, and they have an extensive food menu too! Some outside seating is available on the patio, and all tables are capable of accommodating small or large parties. A bit of a restaurant feel rather than 1a brewery, but a recommended visit nonetheless.

  • Ajax Dark Lager

    Style: Lager - Dark

    ABV: 5.4    IBU: 25

A creamy, roasty, and smooth Czech-style dark lager. Brewed with soft water, a single decoction mash, and 100% Bohemian ingredients. In 1941, Canada's largest ammunition facility was constructed in Ajax, Ontario as part of the war effort in World War Two. This facility employed more than 7000 women from across Canada with a singular, unified mission-- to provide the fathers, husbands, and sons of the nation with enough ammunition to triumph over evil and ultimately return home. The women of Ajax worked tirelessly within this factory for years and produced over 40 million shells during the war effort to ensure their mission was a success.

  • Stripes

    Style: IPA - Triple

    ABV: 10    IBU: 100

Collaboration with Eighty-Eight Brewing. This beer fuses Eighty-Eight's hoppy beer mastery and Tailgunner's passion for traditional brewing techniques, in order to create what we think might be the world's first double decocted double dry-hopped triple IPA. Boasting a double decoction mash and the highest hopping rate ever attempted at Tailgunner, we kept the grain bill simple and anchored this beer with a classic hop blend of Columbus, Centennial, and Simcoe added at many points during the brewing process. Enjoy in moderation!
